Baxi E133: gas supply or ignition fault
The boiler couldn't light. Baxi says E133 indicates a problem with the gas supply, the ignition or flame, or a blocked condensate pipe. On many Baxi displays it shows as E1 then 33.
What you can safely do
- Check your gas supply: does your hob work, and does your prepayment meter have credit?
- In freezing weather, check the condensate pipe outside. Baxi suggests a hot water bottle, a microwaveable heat pack, a cloth soaked in hot water, or pouring hot but not boiling water over the frozen part. Take care: spilt water can freeze and be slippery.
- Reset the boiler. Depending on your model, that means pressing the reset button, turning the temperature knob fully anticlockwise, or turning the selector to R, until the lockout light goes out.
Call a Gas Safe engineer if
- The boiler locks out again. Baxi says frequent lockouts mean there is a fault and you should contact your installer or service engineer.
- You smell gas at any point. Leave the property and call 0800 111 999.
