How we check every page

Everything on BoilerCodes comes from the manufacturers' own documents or official bodies, and every page lists its sources so you can check them yourself.

Where the information comes from

We don't use forum posts, guesswork or other fault code sites as sources.

Our rules

  1. A code's meaning comes from that manufacturer's own documentation.
  2. We only suggest something you can do yourself if the manufacturer says homeowners can do it, and we check it against at least two of the manufacturer's own documents.
  3. Where only one source covers something, we say so.
  4. Where a code means different things on different models, we show each model separately.
  5. Where manufacturers disagree, such as on the right boiler pressure, we show each figure rather than picking one.
  6. Where a manufacturer's documents don't fully agree with each other, we say so on the page.
  7. Anything that means opening the boiler or touching the gas supply is marked as a job for a Gas Safe registered engineer. By law, only they can work on gas appliances.

Keeping it up to date

Every page shows when it was last reviewed. Figures that change over time, such as new boiler costs and grant amounts, are re-checked against their sources every three months.

Ads

Some pages carry links to new-boiler and engineer quote services, labelled as ads. We earn a commission if you buy through them. They never change what we say about a fault.

Spotted a mistake?

Manufacturers update their manuals, and we want every page to match. If something doesn't match your boiler's manual, email hello@boilercodes.co.uk with the brand, model and code. We'll check it against the manual and correct the page.
