Glow-worm F.83: no water in the installation

You can usually fix this

Glow-worm describes F.83 on Betacom A range boilers as: no water in the installation. On Glow-worm Energy boilers, Glow-worm's own fault table lists F.83 twice with two different meanings (an EEPROM fault and a burner temperature sensor fault), so check your manual.

Recommended pressure when cold for Glow-worm boilers: 1.0 to 1.5 bar.

What you can safely do

  1. Turn the boiler off and let it cool.
  2. Top up using the filling loop until the gauge reads 1 to 1.5 bar, as Glow-worm advises.
  3. Close the valves and check the gauge again.

Call a Gas Safe engineer if

  • The pressure keeps dropping, or F.83 comes back.
  • You have an Energy boiler: the code can mean an electronics or sensor fault there.
